Poll: North Carolinians back gun rights over protection from gun violence

A false dichotomy: Gun control doesn’t “protect citizens against gun violence.”

As most of the readers of this blog know, the police will not be there to protect you from violence of any sort, nor do criminals don’t follow laws.

It appears that at least 57% of North Carolinians may understand that gun rights and personal security are intimately intertwined and not in opposition to each other.

High Point University said Wednesday that its latest poll shows the majority of North Carolina residents would rather protect the right to own guns than protect citizens against gun violence.

Fifty seven percent favored protecting the constitutional right of citizens to own guns, while 35 percent though protecting citizens from gun violence was more important.
